(CCCB ? Ottawa)... His Holiness Pope Francis today named the Most Reverend Gary Gordon as Bishop of Victoria. At the time of his appointment, he was Bishop of Whitehorse, Yukon. Bishop Gordon succeeds the Most Reverend Richard Gagnon who was appointed Archbishop of Winnipeg on October 28, 2013. Archbishop Gagnon served as Apostolic Administrator of Victoria until he was installed as Archbishop of Winnipeg on January 3, 2014. Since then, the Reverend John Laszczyk has been Diocesan Administrator of Victoria.

James Weisgerber as Archbishop of Winnipeg, and named as his successor the Most Reverend Richard Gagnon. At the time of his appointment, the Archbishop-elect was Bishop of Victoria. Archbishop Weisgerber has been responsible for the Archdiocese for the past 13 years. He had offered his resignation to the Holy Father when reaching the age of 75, as required by the Code of Canon Law.

At the time of his appointment, the Bishop-elect was President of Corpus Christi and St. Mark’s Colleges, Vancouver. The new Bishop becomes the first Canadian episcopal appointment by Pope Francis.

At the time of his appointment, the Bishop-elect was pastor of Bon-Pasteur Parish in the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke, as well as responsible for the archdiocesan Office for Clergy and also Rector of the Grand séminaire des Saints-Apôtres in the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke.
(CCCB – Ottawa)… His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI today named the Most Reverend Murray Chatlain Archbishop of Keewatin-Le Pas, Manitoba, and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith in theNorthwest Territories. At the time of his appointment, he was Bishop of Mackenzie-Fort Smith. He succeeds the Most Reverend Sylvain Lavoie, O.M.I., whose resignation had been accepted by the Holy Father on 16 July 2012 for reasons of health. Since then, Father William Stang, O.M.I., has served as the Apostolic Administrator of Keewatin-Le Pas.
Subsequent to the appointment of The Most Reverend Valéry Vienneau as Archbishop of Moncton, the College of Consultors of the Diocese of Bathurst on August 31, 2012, elected Father Wesley Wade as Diocesan Administrator of Bathurst, as required by Canon 421 §1.
