History repeats itself…
Last year it was Charles Leclerc’s Q3 crash that red flagged the session and resulted in him finishing on pole. This year, Sergio Perez had a slip of his own that resulted in a Q3 flag that ended the session early and left Leclerc back on pole for his home race.

Leclerc clinched pole position for the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix, but his late-session crash resulted in a gearbox issue that prevented him from starting the race.
The Ferrari driver has been unlucky so far in 2022 despite being one of only two drivers to have won a GP earlier in the season so far. As the saying goes, if he hadn’t had bad luck, he would have had no luck at all.

Formula 1 schedule 2022
With 22 events on the F1 schedule for 2022, one race is close to reaching the mark for the longest F1 calendar.
The season kicked off in Bahrain on March 20 and will conclude with the now-customary Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, albeit a little earlier than usual, in November. This will be the earliest end of the Formula 1 season since it ended on November 4, 2013.
Returning to the 2022 F1 roster are the Canadian and Japanese Grands Prix, both canceled in 2021 due to the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
The calendar also holds the maiden run for the Miami Grand Prix, the first of two races in the United States in 2022, with the United States GP taking place in October.
Originally scheduled for September 25, the Russian Grand Prix was canceled following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
