The Tampa Bay Lightning put an 8-game home winning streak on the line when they hosted the Colorado Avalanche in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight (Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. PT).

Colorado leads the series 2-1.

Austin Matthews is the NHL’s MVP.

Matthews, 24, who scored 60 goals for the Toronto Maple Leafs, received the Hart Trophy for the NHL’s Most Valuable Player and the Ted Lindsay Award for the NHLPA’s Most Outstanding Player.

Shawinigan Cataracts 4 Edmonton Oil Kings 3

Shawinigan leveled a 3-2 deficit by scoring two goals just 78 seconds apart in the third period.

The WHL champion, who is seven years behind, has now lost a combined 14 games at the Memorial Cup.

The standings in the four-team tournament are Saint John and Shawinigan 1-0, Edmonton and Hamilton 0-1.

Edmonton plays host Saint John today (3:00 PT).

The Prince George Cougars begin their 2022-23 WHL regular season on Friday, September 23 when they host the Tri-City Americans.

The Cougars’ full schedule will be released at a later date.


The PG Cougars will play four preseason games, including one on September 17 at the CN Center against the Kamloops Blazers.

The (38-30) Blue Jays are 0-2 on a 6-game road trip that continues today (11:10 a.m. PT) against the (33-33) White Sox in Chicago.

The BC Lions return at 7 a.m. Saturday night when they host Toronto.
