Oon Named Finalist for Honda Sport Award for Golf

SAN JOSE, California.-Female golfer from the state of San Jose Natasha Andrea Oonrunner-up at the 2022 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship has been named one of four finalists for the Class of 2022 Honda Sport Award for Golf, announced Chris Voelz, executive director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) on Friday.


The four finalists include Arizona State’s Alexandra Forsterling, LSU’s Ingrid Lindblad, Stanford’s Rose Zhang, and Oon.


Oon was a First Team WGCA All-American, a finalist for the ANNIKA Award, Mountain West Player of the Year, and a medalist at the MW Championships and NCAA Ann Arbor Regional. She is a three-time All-American and First Team All-MW honoree. Oon led the Spartans to their first MW Championship with a record 30 shots.


Presented annually for the past 46 years by the CWSA to the top female athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, the Honda Sport Award means “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” The sports award winner will be a finalist for Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2022 Honda Cup to be presented during the live broadcast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards presented by Honda on CBS Sports Network June 27 at 9 p.m. ET/ 6pts

Golf finalists were selected by a panel of coaches and experts from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The Honda Sport Award winner for golf will be announced later this week after administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools vote. Each NCAA member institution has one vote.

The CWSA, entering its 46th year, has honored the nation’s top NCAA athletes for their superior athletic ability, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service. Since its partnership began in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to awardee and nominee universities to support women’s athletics programs.
