Delhi-NCR residents were in for a cool surprise after torrential rain and gusty winds battered the national capital and neighboring areas on Monday night. The sudden showers caused the temperature to drop and people rejoiced as the downpour was a much-needed respite from the hot and muggy weather.
Images of uprooted trees and traffic jams emerged soon after the heavy rains hit Delhi. However, Aam Janta was super happy and welcomed the refreshing change with open arms and reactions on Twitter. A wind speed of 100 km/h was reported in Delhi. “Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain and gusty winds at speeds of 30-50 km/h would occur over and adjacent areas of west, north-west, south and south-west Delhi,” IMD said.
