Cameron calls public school systems ‘so bad’

Cameron appears in the film alongside seventeen homeschooling families, who address the misconceptions and rumors surrounding what it’s like to homeschool your children. The actor has come under fire for his politically charged comments about why he thinks families should homeschool.

“The problem is that the systems have gotten so bad,” he said FoxNews. “It’s sad to say that they do more for personal hygiene, for sexual chaos, and for the progressive left than for real education about the things that most of us want to teach our children.”

The actor references topics such as critical race theory, gender theory, and the 1619 Project, all of which are discussed in various public school systems. Cameron claimed these subjects would “destroy the family, destroy the church, destroy the love of our great country.”

His personal experience with homeschooling

Cameron and his wife Chelsea homeschool their six children and said keeping them out of public school has improved their socialization skills and allowed them to meet and interact with people of all ages.

“Homeschool wasn’t on our radar screen because we had these misconceptions and stereotypes like so many people do,” Cameron explained. “Like, you know, this is like Quakers and the Amish, and how could you possibly teach your kids enough to get them into college? What about the socialization?”

While Cameron claims that homeschooling has improved his children’s socialization skills, psychological studies have been unable to draw any conclusions about how homeschooling can affect children.

Social media users were quick to slam Cameron’s public school thoughts. “I understand why Kirk Cameron is against public education, educated people would NEVER willingly watch any of his films,” one person tweeted.
